"Nobody 2" delivers the action goods.

Two-time Emmy winner Bob Odenkirk reunites with screenwriter Derek Kolstad for a sequel to his 2021 hit “Nobody,” aptly titled “Nobody 2,” from Universal Pictures. Timo Tjahjanto steps into the director’s chair for this installment.

When we last saw suburban husband and father Hutch Mansell (Odenkirk), he had won a battle against the Russian mob. However, he now finds himself $30 million in debt to the criminal organization, working it off by carrying out an unending string of hits on international thugs.

To cover his tracks, Hutch works for his father-in-law, Eddie (Michael Ironside). Meanwhile, his wife Becca (Connie Nielsen) feels that they are both overworked and drifting apart. To mend their relationship, the couple decides to take their children, Brady (Gage Munroe) and Sammy (Paisley Cadorath), on a short getaway to Wild Bill’s Majestic Midway and Waterpark—the very place where Hutch and his brother Harry (RZA) vacationed as kids.

Accompanying them is Hutch’s wisecracking father, David (Christopher Lloyd). Initially, everything seems perfect as they arrive in the small tourist town of Plummerville, which boasts the motto, “Plummerville is Summerville!” However, a minor altercation with some local bullies soon draws the family into the sights of a corrupt theme park operator named Henry (John Ortiz) and a shady town sheriff, Abel (Colin Hanks). To make matters worse, Hutch and his family soon become the target of unhinged, bloodthirsty crime boss Lendina(Sharon Stone).

“Nobody 2” wastes no time in setting up its plot, as we see Hutch on his latest job and issues with his family. Odenkirk slides back into the role with ease, and one of the strengths of the sequel is that while Hutch is a killing machine, he doesn’t have a ton of plot armor. I was also fond of the scenes of Hutch with his family on their road trip, as they added another layer to his humanity.

The trailer has hinted at what sets the plot in motion while on vacation, so that I won’t spoil it here, but it’s a great moment to see Hutch sticking up for his family. The action scenes are believable, and we are constantly rooting for Hutch to take out the bad guys. The third act has some of the best action moments you’ll see in the theater this summer.

The supporting cast is good for the most part. Colin Hanks and Sharon Stone are having fun as villains, while Christopher Lloyd and RZA bring back the magic from the first film with ease. And it’s always fun to see John Ortiz and Connie Nielsen on screen.

Filled with laughs, non-stop action, and a committed performance from Bob Odenkirk, “Nobody 2” is a fast-paced sequel worth the trip to the theater.

Final Grade: B+

"Nobody 2" opens in theaters tomorrow.
