The Devil Wears Prada 2 Review : Miranda Priestly Still Runs the Fame in a Stylish Sequel

Director David Frankel brings the band back together at 20th Century Studios for "The Devil Wears Prada 2", a long-awaited sequel to the 2006 cultural staple. Written by Aline Brosh McKenne , the film updates its world for a digital-first era, placing Runway magazine at the center of a media landscape that no longer plays by the old rules.

When we reconnect with Miranda Priestly (), Andy Sachs (), Emily Charlton (), and Nigel (), life has moved on—but not necessarily forward. Andy is thriving as a journalist, Emily has carved out a space for herself at Dior, and Miranda remains firmly planted at Runway. That stability is shaken when Miranda finds herself at the center of a PR nightmare tied to a poorly vetted article, forcing the fashion titan to confront a world driven by clicks, outrage, and accountability.

As fate would have it, Andy is suddenly back in the picture, stepping into Runway as a features editor under less-than-ideal circumstances. The tension between her and Miranda hasn’t disappeared—it’s evolved. What follows is a familiar but effective push-and-pull dynamic, as two strong-willed professionals realize that survival may require collaboration.

I still remember catching the original film during my Air Force years, drawn in by Streep’s commanding presence but staying for the unexpected relatability. That same energy carries over here. Miranda may be navigating cancel culture, but the film wisely avoids turning it into a punchline. Instead, it becomes a backdrop that allows Streep to explore new shades of a character who once seemed untouchable.

Tucci remains the film’s secret weapon, bringing warmth and loyalty to Nigel, while Blunt slides back into Emily with razor-sharp precision. Hathaway, meanwhile, exudes confidence, giving Andy a grounded evolution that feels earned without losing the charm that made her compelling in the first place.

With a brisk pace, a few well-placed surprises, and just enough callbacks to reward longtime fans, "The Devil Wears Prada 2" doesn’t try to outdo the original—it updates the conversation. And in a world where relevance is everything, that might be the smartest move it could make.

Final Grade : B+
